Theory of music is included in conventional piano lessons on a “need to know” basis (i.e. insofar as the music you are performing requires knowledge of a particular theoretical concept). However, if you have a specific need to study theory (for example to pass the Grade 5 Theory hurdle) short courses tailored to your needs can be arranged. These will normally be in “blocks” of 10 lessons.
You can choose from:
- Theory of music (classical)
- Composition (find your own preferred style – we won’t push you in a predetermined direction)
- Arrangement (perhaps you’re a school music teacher and need advice on how to arrange a piece for wind band)
- Orchestration
- Musical analysis
- GCSE and ‘A’ level work (supporting what you’re doing in school or college).
Single, ad hoc coaching/consultations can be provided for any of these options – by scheduling a face-to-face session, or by Skype. Peter can also work with you via conventional email if you prefer.
